How do I find a Good Chiropractor

“How do I find a Good Chiropractor?”

I bet everyone you know has a story about a chiropractor, some good and some bad.  So how can you shift through all the hype about a certain chiropractor to find one who is going to give you the treatment you need?  Many chiropractors have very different treatment styles.  This article will give you an idea of why our patients have chosen us and our type of care over different chiropractors.

1.  We do not need to see our patients for long treatment plans

The common negative stereotype people who are "anti-chiropractic" have is this: "If you start going to a chiropractor, you will never stop"

Although this is a common situation in some offices, we tell our patients on day 1 that they will feel much better very quickly and soon after they will be released from our care… feeling better than they have in a long time!  We feel very confident with our treatment and our ability to help you to better health VERY FAST.

At P3 Sports Care, we try to be different in this aspect of treatment.  We primarily use Active Release Techniques® to address the soft tissue component of an injury (which is often neglected) and by this we are able to make a huge amount of progress in just a few treatments.  Our patients feel a significant change in their symptoms within 4 treatments or so.

2.    We never try to sell you on going care or scare you with tons of money up front on the first day.

Many people interested in coming into a chiropractor for care are often scared off by some offices asking for thousands of dollars up front.  We don’t do this.  We will tell you our recommendations for your care with us and the estimated cost in the long run when you first come in.  Payment is due at the time of treatment but this is at the end of each treatment.

This give the patient the opportunity to discontinue care with us at anytime if they feel it is not right for them.  We are that confident in our treatment!  We know you will be keeping your next appointment because you will be feeling a HUGE difference in your condition.

3.    All of our diagnostic tests will make sense to you

The diagnostic testing should make sense to you.  Testing done so it can be explained.  We will explain every test we are doing on you because it is evidence-based.  Something we have learned over the years is this…. many times when a new patient comes in for care with us, they have never had a full explaination of their condition.  Apparently their past doctors have not spent the time to explain everything to them.

We will spend enough time with you to educate you about your own body and what is going on with it.  We will answer all your questions.

4.    We encourage co-managing your case with your medical doctor.

Chiropractic care and Active Release Techniques® is extremely useful in many musculoskeletal conditions but we do realize when we are in "over our head."  We work in close contact with your primary care doctor because two heads are better than one.

In the past, many medical doctors and chiropractors did not see eye to eye but your care is what matters.  Because we are Active Release Techniques® providers, we have the trust of many medical doctors.  There should be a referral back and forth between the two doctors of different specialties, where the MD is better with internal medicine and the Active Release® chiropractor is better with problems with soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves) and joints.  This is becoming more mainstream as time goes on.

5.    We only take x-rays based on your history and need for it.

We only take x-rays for patients who have had some form of trauma or could have a serious underlying pathology, such as cancer.  Our view "spinal alignment" (unless there is suspicion of a scoliosis) and "posture" is a bit different that most chiropractors, so we do not require constant x-rays.  Many times if your history does not call of imaging, we will begin your treatment.  However, if we do not see constant improvement, imaging might be needed to rule out other conditions.  Some chiropractors base your treatment on your x-rays.  We base our treatment on how you feel and what seems to work for you.

6.    We do not try to aggressively sell you nutritional supplements

Now don’t get me wrong, I think nutritional supplements are a necessity in this day and age where people eat tons of junk food, but we will only educate you on it.  We hate pushy salesman and you probably do too.  When you come into our facility it is all about education and not selling.

7.    Last but not least, our treatment will make sense to you

Plain and simple as that; if a chiropractor cannot explain to you why he is planning on treating you then why would you let him or her touch you.  Every treatment should have a scientific rational, even if it has not been proven by studies yet.  All of our patients understand their treatment plan.
